Optical precision comes from bonding together a double convex element and two concave elements of different types of glass. The transparent body allows illumination to fall on magnified area; body is threaded so you can focus the lens. Lens slides are coated black to block glare. Optional measuring scales (sold separately) screw onto the bottom of the lens.
